Marco Polo Hotel Group Strengthens Brand Identity And Partners Utell

Hong Kong, 26 October 2000: The Marco Polo Hotel Group today renamed The Hongkong Hotel, The Marco Polo, Hong Kong and The Prince, Hong Kong to strengthen brand identity and to clearly identify the Group-managed properties in Hong Kong,

All three hotels now share the same prefix, with The Hongkong Hotel becoming The Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel and The Prince, Hong Kong turning into The Marco Polo Prince. The Marco Polo Hotel, Hong Kong changes to The Marco Polo Gateway, partly retaining its original name and also taking on the name "Gateway" to identify with the new Gateway complex in Harbour City.

Quality, consistency and good value are what The Marco Polo brand is known and recognized for in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world. The brand unification taking place in Hong Kong will enable the Marco Polo Hotel Group's loyal customers to recognize their favorite Marco Polo Hotel more readily and book with it.

Coinciding with the launch of the new branding, is the Marco Polo Hotel Group's appointment of Utell International to provide the group with central reservation services. This enables the Group to capture business from Voice Reservations Centers; Global Distribution System, Internet Portals/Websites through the "MH" Private Label Central Reservation System.

Utell will also implement an interface between Marco Polo Hotel Group's website and the Global Reservations System, allowing customers to receive instant confirmation of their hotel booking.

The Marco Polo Hotel Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Wharf (Holdings) Limited, has a portfolio of seven properties in Asia: The Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel, The Marco Polo Gateway and The Marco Polo Prince in Hong Kong; The Marco Polo,Xiamen and The Marco Polo,Beijing (opening in 2001) in mainland China; The Marco Polo, Davao in the Philippines and Marco Polo's Omni Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
