Corporate Social Responsibility | The Wharf Hong Kong Secondary School Art Competition

The Group has been a keen supporter of art and culture. With a mission of "Building for Tomorrow", Wharf strives to provide appropriate resources and opportunities to groom our next generation. The Group has introduced "The Wharf Hong Kong Secondary School Art Competition" ("Competition") since 2011 to boost young people's creativity and foster their interests in arts and culture, with an ultimate goal of promoting art development in Hong Kong.

The Competition receives an overwhelming response of entries, with various concepts and exceptional quality demonstrated. About 2,000 entries covering diversified themes and various art forms are received from more than 200 secondary schools across 18 districts in Hong Kong annually.

The 2017/18 edition of the Competition will be held in association with the Hong Kong Arts Centre to celebrate the Centre's 40th anniversary and to further the common goal of supporting artistic talents of the youth. Entrants are free to create on any theme. They can also choose to create based on the theme "Arts at the Centre" for a chance to win a special award in addition to the regular competition awards. Apart from cash prizes and book vouchers, the Top 18 entrants will be invited to join an overseas arts and cultural exchange tour. The Top 54 entrants and special award recipients will be invited to join a "Junior Docent Training Programme" organised by the Hong Kong Arts Centre, and will each receive a certificate of achievement. Qualified winners are eligible to apply for The Wharf Art Scholarship for a fully subsidised scholarship for a bachelor programme on creative art in a local or oversea tertiary institution of their choice.

In addition to exhibiting at Group's malls including Harbour City, Times Square and Plaza Hollywood, the winning entries and other selected entries will be shown at the prestigious Pao Galleries at the Hong Kong Arts Centre to further share talents' creativity with locals and tourists alike.
